Golf

It seems to be a fact of life that golf courses have a habit of evolving around established vacation destinations. The world-renowned Alaska Highway brings thousands of visitors to our region every year. As with all golf hot spots, success in the region’s numerous golf courses lies in our natural assets; rolling hills, meandering rivers and virgin forests. Dawson Creek and the surrounding area have some amazing opportunities for the golfing enthusiast.

Golfing within the city limits can be found at the Dawson Creek Golf and Country Club. For a shorter course (6316 yards from back tees), the Dawson Creek Golf and Country Club has many demanding tee shots and is a risk-for-reward golf course with at least three drivable par-4’s. Great golfers love it... Some say it has the toughest par-3 i the Peace Region! How many 240-yard par-3’s have you played? 2003 saw this local 18-hole golf course host the BC Golf Association Provincial Junior Championships. One hundred and sixty athletes from the province competed, trying to qualify for a spot on the BC and Canadian Junior Golf teams.

One of the first golfing stops along the Alaska Highway is Farmington Fairways. This 12-hole course features an Island Green as their signature hole. The course is always well maintained, with plenty of opportunities to view wildlife. This is a very challenging course with tree-lined fairways, water hazards and wildlife obstacles! An excellent spot for a weekend of golfing; the on-site campground provides a tranquil setting amongst the rolling hills of the Peace Valley.
